Refrigerants are the cooling agents that make air conditioning possible.  For years, refrigerant R-22 was the most common cooling agent.  However, in response to growing environmental concerns, the production of systems using refrigerant R-22 is now being phased out - paving the way for new systems to begin using refrigerant R-410A.  Refrigerant R-410A is chlorine-free, thus considered to be ozone-friendly.
